About Us.

The South Staffordshire Deaf Children’s Society is a registerd charity formed more than 40 years ago.

There is an organising committee which meets throughout the year and consists of parents and friends of the society.

We run a variety of fundraising activities and with the monies we run fun and educational events for children with a hearing loss and their families. These have included:

  • Fun activities for toddlers at Wolseley Centre of the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust
  • Summer Trips for all the family like Legoland, Chester Zoo…
  • Theatre trips including signed performances like Matilda
  • Festive events including an annual Christmas Party, Black Country Museum at Christmas…
  • A weekend away for Y6 and above with lots of adventurous activities
  • Parents-only evening at the pub – for parents to have the opportunity to network with other parents of children with a hearing loss.

We have also purchased a range of equiment for the benefit of the children, including Roger Pens, iPads, Minicoms, caption readers, silent alert systems and vibrating alarm clocks.

Our fundraising activities include:

  • Our Annual Duck Race which has lots of fun activities, stalls and entertainment for the whole family
  • An Annual Quiz Nite providing lots of family fun and banter
  • Personal pursuit challenges where people raise money for the charity by running the London Marathon, the Stafford 10K…
