A Taste of BSL

On Wednesday, February 18th the Soroptimists Stafford were sounded by the wonderful Tina Bayley for an inspiring and eye-opening 'Sound Off' talk 👂✨

Tina shared what it can be like to be deaf, how we can better communicate with the deaf community, and introduced them to some of the incredible aids and technology available to support hearing loss.

As Chairperson of the South Staffordshire Deaf Children's Society, Tina spoke passionately about her journey, explaining how she was inspired to step into this field following her son’s diagnosis as profoundly deaf.

The group also had the chance to learn some BSL, and they took on the challenge of lining up in age order without talking… which didn't come naturally to the ladies! 🤐 A powerful reminder of the communication barriers many face every day.

A huge thank you, to Tina, for educating, challenging and inspiring the group.
